Audi A9 May Underpin Lamborghini Estoque

There have been a lot of murmurs about a Lamborghini sedan of late. Lamborghini is clearly looking to expand and CEO Stephan Winkelmann thinks a sedan is the way to do it.One of the factors that is influencing the sedan’s fate is an obvious one: money. And one of the ways that Lamborghini could make the sedan cost-effective is by sharing a platform. Sure, Lamborghini’s stable is limited, but Volkswagen is much broader.

According to an Autocar report yesterday, Lamborghini may have an entirely new car to share with. Audi is considering building a flagship A9 model, which would be a sportier take on the A8. Audi is currently trying to flesh out a business case for the model, and if it does, it could very well help Lamborghini’s case for the Estoque. The car’s would have their own engines, with the Estoque getting the Gallardo V10 and the Audi likely getting a new V8 or W12.There have been a lot of murmurs about a Lamborghini sedan of late.
